What is the application process?

What are you looking for in applicants?

We're looking for candidates who display determination, motivation, and excitement for theprogram. You'll be a great fit if you have clear personal and professional goals and a basicknowledge of the program.

How big are the classes and how often does the program run?

Class sizes range from 20-30 people. The Program runs 3 sessions per year, with start dates in September, February, and June.

What are the days and times of classes?

Expect 15 to 25 hours per week of classes and education for at least 6 months.For the first 6 weeks, classes meet Monday-Thursday from 9am-1pm. Family Gatherings are held each Tuesday night from 6pm-8pm.Starting Week 7, you'll do your career training with either Good Works Collective or one of our training partners.

Will a felony record affect my ability to enroll?

We believe no one should be wholly defined by their past. With the exception of a sexual offense, your background will not disqualify you from our program. However, it could prevent you from participating in the skill training of your choice.

Are you accepting non-English speaking Leaders?

At this time, all of our classes are conducted in English. Potential leaders must be able to speakand understand English fluently.

I’ve Heard Good Works Collective is faith-based. Is the teaching religious or are religious practices required to be in the program?

None of our curriculum includes teaching on faith, nor are any religious practices required. We do offer an optional lunchtime class on religion 1 day/week.

Are classes online or in person?

The Good Works Collective program is completely onsite, either at the our campus or with our training partners.

Do I need a computer? What computer skills are necessary?

Yes - while a computer is necessary, don't worry if you don't have your own - borrowing one is always an option!You will also need a professional Gmail email account as well as a basic understanding of how to maneuver your computer and use its functionalities (powering it on/off, using Google Docs, etc.).

Do I pay for any of the skills certifications?

Not a penny! Once you're accepted into the program, you will receive a scholarship that covers 100% of the program fees. This scholarship as well as your monthly stipend is a gift to you from our community of donors invested in your success.

What are my expectations while in the program?

Attendance is mandatory: if you have more than 3 absences and/or tardies you will be let go.

You are expected to be drug free during the program and willingly submit to any drug test by the staff.

What is the job search process? Does Good Works Collective give me a job? When do I need to get a job?

When you have completed 70% of your Skill Track studies, you will begin actively looking for a job. While we have a Career Professional actively finding opportunities within each Skill Track, you will need to apply for these jobs. It is up to you to find, apply for, and land the job. You will be expected to get a job before the class graduation date.

What is the stipend? How much is it and when is it paid out?

Once you're accepted into the program, you may be eligible to receive up to $200/mo for your living expenses, paid at the end of each month. The stipend is financial support contingent upon your full participation in the Good Works Collective program.

What is Family Gathering? When is it? Is it required?

Family Gathering is a mandatory time where our classes come together for dinner and community building each Tuesday from 6-8pm.

Will childcare be provided?

Childcare will not be provided during normal class hours. For Tuesday night Family Gatherings, childcare will be provided on a need-only basis.If you have childcare options - such as family members, babysitters, or friends - we ask that you utilize those other options so that those who need childcare the most can access it.If you do not have any childcare options, you can request a childcare application. If approved, you would be able to enjoy free childcare during Tuesday night Family Dinners.

What is the structure of the program?

The entire program lats about 6 months, with 6 weeks of personal development and 4-20 weeks of career training in your chosen skill track.
